Balanced by Design

Project Overview

When I enrolled in Integrating AI into Business and Education, it wasn't part of my instructional design certificate - but I immediately thought it should be. Balanced by Design grew from that curiosity into a collection of stakeholder briefing materials exploring how AI can support learning design, productivity, and human decision-making.

Challenge

AI conversations can move very quickly from possibility to promise. The challenge was to separate what these tools can genuinely support from what gets claimed for them, and to frame AI around actual learning and performance needs rather than novelty.

Design Approach

I treated the projects as one connected body of work: adaptive learning platform analysis, AI integration strategies for instructional design, AI-enhanced learning concepts, and a final presentation on digital well-being in an AI-driven world.

Throughout the work, I kept returning to three questions: Where can AI actually support performance? Where does it need guardrails? What still requires human judgment?

Outcome

Working through these projects showed me how easily AI conversations can drift toward promises, and how much clearer they become when anchored to a real performance need. The work reinforced my view of AI as a design strategy and support tool, not a replacement for human expertise.
