Adaptive by Design

Project Overview

The best teachers I ever had could read a room and respond to learners in the moment. They noticed what each student needed and adjusted - sometimes mid-sentence. That responsiveness is the idea behind adaptive learning. Adaptive by Design is a training module for learning professionals who want to see adaptive learning in action. The experience changes based on a learner's performance or prior knowledge.

Challenge

Not everyone in a training situation needs the same training. The challenge was to create one learning experience that could respond to different levels of prior knowledge without becoming confusing or feeling like three separate courses.

Design Approach

Adaptive logic is easier to understand when you experience it. Pre-assessment questions about adaptive knowledge guide the initial path forward, and learners are encouraged to experience any of three learning tracks - beginner, intermediate, or advanced - by varying responses and starting again.

Outcome

This project pushed me to carefully plan, create, and test my adaptive structure again and again. Based on feedback, I refined the branching paths and conditional logic to make the learner flow cleaner and more intuitive.
